Programmes

Our programmes cover a broad range of business issues, from law to soft skills. They all draw on our members’ expertise and experience. All our audio and audio-visual material is produced to broadcast standard, the vast majority of programmes being put together with our colleagues at USP Content – www.uspcontent.comwhose clients include the major UK broadcasters. (Their site is currently being redeveloped, so the link takes you to Their Showcase, including examples of their audio/visual output).

Our programmes are either:

  • Full-length (twenty to thirty minutes) or
  • Short-form “Savvy Soundbytes” (five to fifteen minutes).

Some take the form of one-to-one interviews, while others involve three or four contributors. Everything can be downloaded to your computer so that you can access it at a time that suits you; and our audio can be downloaded to a portable mp3 player, so you can take it anywhere.

As business people we all have far too much to read. Programmes have a number of advantages over the printed word. For instance:

Audio is more flexible than print – it’s possible to listen in situations where it would be impossible to read, such as in the car.

For most people, audio and audio-visual information is more digestible than print – research indicates we absorb a maximum of 10% of what we read and up to 50% of what we see and hear.

All this, coupled with the growing consumption of “on demand” content (latest estimates are that 80% of the online community in the UK downloads some form of audio and audio-visual content) means that as well as being a great way to consume information, being involved in a programme is an innovative – and highly effective way of promoting your business. As a member, you can be part of a programme by contributing and/orsponsoring. Traditional advertising tends to talk at – even shout at – the market. Through a programme you have the chance to talk to your current and potential customers. Instead of having twenty/thirty seconds to tell them how great you are, you could have twenty/thirty minutes to show them – especially valuable if you work in the business to business arena. The power of branded content has been recognized by large corporates for as long as we’ve had commercial radio. Until recently, they were the only ones who could afford it. Now, though, it’s open to everyone – and it’s targetable and trackable.
